Exhibition Preview: ‘Interior Space’ – Genevieve Caminade

We invite you to join us for the opening of Genevieve Caminade’s debut exhibition at the Square Club – bringing together the two connective elements of her practice: painting and fabric design. This exhibition, titled ‘Interior Space’, will transform the Square into a colourful composition of abstract geometric patterns.

Our doors will open to you at 7pm with a complimentary welcome drink, canapes and the chance to have a first look at the show. The evening will then flow into a jazzy direction with Cabaret Voltaire: James Morton Soul Jazz Club taking you from 9pm – 11pm: https://www.thesquareclub.com/events/cabaret-voltaire-james-morton-soul-jazz-club-1/. We look forward to welcoming you!

The event is free but please RSVP to nicol.phillips@thesquareclub.com if you would like to attend.

Genevieve wants to explore what it means to co-habit paintings and fabric design to create a bespoke and saturated interior. She will play with elements in the Square Lounge such as: the window blinds, cushion fabric and furniture design. This new arena will immerse the audience in Genevieve’s artistic vision – going beyond paintings on the wall towards a reimagining of what the domestic environment can be. All works are available to purchase (please email nicol.phillips@thesquareclub.com with sales enquiries).

Genevieve Caminade is a French-British artist currently living and working in Wales, UK. She trained at Falmouth College of Art (BA) then went on to do a Post-Graduate course at the Royal College of Art, London. Genevieve began working on the series ‘Abstract Geometric’ paintings whilst at college and continues this journey today. As an extension of this series, Genevieve began painting onto fabric in 1982 – developing her own fabric design company ‘Joie De Vivre’ in 1999. The artist’s Fine Art background informs her textile designs and creates links between the two that continue throughout her career.
