Clifton – it’s all about Location, Location, Location

Here at the Square we are very lucky to be situated in Clifton: a stylish area within Bristol that has beautiful parks, independent shops, heritage sites, exhibitions and arcades. There are lots of stunning sights on our doorstep that are perfect for you to explore to get a feel for the city and soak up the atmosphere. Below are a few of our top choices of the amazing places we have close by…

THE BERKELEY SQUARE

Situated right outside our front door is the Berkeley Square green that is a lovely grassy haven for public use – perfect for lounging in the summer sun and relaxing with friends and family. It is a little hidden gem in the heart of Clifton – why not drop into the Square for some lunch too! Check out our £5 express lunch menu here.

BRANDON HILL

This is one of Bristol’s hot spots – a stunning park on a hill that overlooks the city. The benches that line the pathways are the perfect stop-offs to soak up the view. At the top of Brandon Hill is Cabot Tower – if you’re feeling fit enough to climb the stairs then it’s well worth the effort as the views once you’re up there are breathtaking. The park is large enough for a lovely walk and there is a play park at the bottom of the hill that is family friendly.

BRISTOL MUSEUM & ART GALLERY

This free museum is 5 minutes walk from the Square and has changing contemporary exhibitions as well as an extensive permanent collection. Previous exhibitions showcased works by the prolific Bristol street artist Banksy and an intricate installation by South Korean artist Do Ho Suh titled ‘New York City Apartment/Bristol’.

CLIFTON VILLAGE

Clifton Village is only 10 minutes walk from the Square and is a beautiful spot to stroll around – with lots of lovely independent shops selling flowers, antiques, jewellery and much more. The Clifton Arcade is a historic little spot with bespoke retailers and pop-up venues.

THE SUSPENSION BRIDGE

This famous landmark by Isambard Kingdom Brunel is located a 15/20 minute walk from the Square Club and offers a breathtaking view of the Avon Gorge and beyond. This is the perfect spot to get a moment of quiet and to see the city from a different perspective.
