More novellas are being published than ever before. Now flash fiction writers are exploring the form. Michael Loveday will give tips on writing a Novella-in-Flash and success in this form. Michael judged the 2019 Bath Novella-in Flash Award and is also judging the 2020 Bath Novella-in-Flash Award.

At Novel Nights we’ll discuss flash fiction, key published works and the rise of the novella-in-flash, looking at the opportunities for writers to use this form. Can flash fiction reflect real life more accurately than the novel? What does the novella in flash form offer for the reader?

As a judge to the 2019 Bath Novella-in-Flash Award Michael will share his thoughts on what makes a winning entry and share insights into the judging process. He is also judging the 2020 Bath Novella-in-Flash Award.

Michael Loveday’s novella-in-flash Three Men on the Edge was published by V. Press in 2018, and his poetry pamphlet He Said / She Said by HappenStance Press (2011). His writing has appeared in The Spectator; Flash: The International Short-Short Story Magazine; National Flash Fiction Day Anthology; and Funny Bone: Flashing for Comic Relief. He is a freelance tutor of creative writing in Adult and Higher Education, and a Director of the National Association of Writers in Education. He was judge of the inaugural Tongues and Grooves Prose Poem Prize in 2018, and judge of the 2019 Bath Novella-in-Flash Award.
